Niall Patrick Walsh is a writer and architect. You might know him as a contributing writer at Archinect, or as a former senior editor at ArchDaily, the world’s most visited architecture website. He is also an RIAI and ARB registered architect, having previously worked at BDP, one of the largest design + engineering firms in Europe.
Niall lives and works in Belfast, but engages with architects and designers across the world.
Between January 2017 and April 2020, he wrote and edited over 1000 articles for ArchDaily, producing some of their most popular content. Today, he is a contributing writer at Archinect, the world’s largest online community of architects and researchers. He has also written for both the print and digital editions of Architecture Ireland (RIAI Journal), Ireland’s premier architecture magazine, and for the popular Chinese magazine Front Vision.
He has represented ArchDaily and Archinect at events across Ireland, Italy, France, the United States, and China, and has interviewed leading architecture and design figures such as Bjarke Ingels (Founder, BIG), Carlo Ratti (Director, MIT Senseable City Lab), Sir Peter Cook (Co-Creator, Archigram), and the TED founder Richard Saul Wurman.
Niall holds a Masters in Architecture (Distinction) from Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland, and is a former RIAI architect at BDP (Building Design Partnership), one of the largest architecture firms in Europe. He previously worked as an architectural designer at the award-winning Architecture Initiative in London. He is a licensed architect in Ireland (RIAI) and the United Kingdom (ARB).
His design work has also been recognised internationally, including being awarded first place in the International Tube8x8x300 Contest in China in 2020.
In September 2021, he was named on the AJ100 New Talent List, profiling some of the most promising early career designers in the UK and Ireland.
